Time to put the tank to use (just sold of my final fh)

I am going with a bare bottom, with a nice center driftwood piece and Java moss tied to it and some caves.

- 3 silver dollars ( 3 inches each at mostt)
- 1 Red tail shark (keeps to himself)

Additions

- 6 l066 King Tiger Pleco (they get to around 10cm, will be bred in the tank also, hence the caves)

- 10 Crystal Red Shrimp (hoping to make a colony)

- 10 Yellow Shrimp (hoping to make a colony)

- 10 Cherry Shrimp (hoping to make a colony)

-Filtration is a Fluval 405

Objective:

Trying to have a great tank to look at, as well as a compatible group of fish who could breed in this condition :)

Thanks!

Don't do a bare bottom. Use sand. Use a small powerhead with a wide flow output (Hydor Koralia) at the bottom of the tank to keep the pleco poop off of it. Otherwise, sounds great.

I might suggest a small shoal of diamond tetras as well. I would also add an HOB like a Marineland Bio-wheel 350.

Thanks for your kind reply mate. The reason I did not want to use substrate was mainly because of the large about of poo.

Id it ok if i use aritificial grass and live plants? There will be caves for the pleco. They might preefer the driftwood also.

But artificial grass would be easier for me.

Also, the dollars will be sold. Would a 10cm red tail shark be that harmful to the colonies? I just dont want to sell him lol

Aright boys. I took your advice. My beautiful shark and SD's are now sold. Leaving the 65 fully empty.

I am going to be putting in Crystal Blue Shrimp and Yellow Shrimp for now. Is there anything else I could breed with them in the same tank? If so, please feel free to leave your suggestions. I just find it a bit uncomfortable having a lounge room tank with just shrimps haha...but please go ahead and suggest :)

Harlequin rasbora or small tetra shoals, lemon for example, emperor, cardinal or red-eye or gold, or diamond.
