So I found a really good deal on a 65 gallon tank today (36x18x25 inches) and I'm thinking about getting it. It'd be my "wife's tank" so a few questions about stocking so I can answer any questions she's gonna have.

We currently have a red severum that she's gonna wanna keep there so are we gonna be able to keep any other not so aggressive cichlids in the 65 with it? Other severums (don't think so but she wants me to ask)? geophagus types? Or just dither type fish?

Anyways, just a few questions before bed. Look forward to responses!

I would go with some larger tetra's like columbian or lemon tetras. I think the tank is a little small for geophagus. I have not owned them because I think my 75 is to small for them. They do better in groups. You could do 1 more severum.

If your wife loves the red severum, put schooling fish in like corys or tetras or both. The last thing you want to deal with is territory disputes among cichlids.

Didn't realize geophagus were such group fish. That's cool. Thanks for the info guys!
