I picked up a new 65g (36" X 18" X 24") aquarium and am planning to set it up as a Tanganyikan community. I'm currently working on a DIY 3D background. This is the stocklist that I'm thinking of:

8 Paracyprichromis nigripinnis
4 Altolamprologus calvus
6 Synodontis grandiops/multipunctatus
1 Mastacembelus elipsifer or plagiostoma

Does that sound like it would work?

I would go with either synodontis petricolas or synodontis lucipinnus. They do not grow as large as the synodontis multipunctatus. As far as the eels go, go with the plagiostoma. Again, they do not grow as large as the mastacembelus elipsifer. With the eels, make sure your tank is well covered. They are escape artists. Otherwise, your stocking plan should work.
