Kidderminster man catches giant goldfish
Andy Hackett from Kidderminster lands the "elusive" beast while on a trip to France.

Looks to be about a 2 footer…a 180 with lots of Oscar friends should work! What I wanna know is...what's the absolute minimum size of aquarium that the lucky angler would need...to keep that fish happy for life...and what kind of water change schedule would be required? Would 20% every two weeks work?
And, of course, how many other fish can be jammed in there as well?
This is assuming he loves that fish and wants only the best for it. Thanks in advance!![]()
I hope the carp lives many more yearsAs soon as I saw that picture I knew it was no goldfish. I guessed it was some variant of the leather carp. Then when I read through the additional snippet which deadeye posted it confirmed that it was a cross between a koi and a leather. Oh, andtlindsey , it states the fish was stocked in the fishery about 20 years ago, so that'll give you a rough idea of its age.
My brother has been to France carp fishing. The fish grow so much bigger, and faster, in the warmer climate. What we'd consider to be a monster carp in the UK, starting somewhere around the 40lb mark, are considered nuisances in France!! My brother had commons and mirrors nudging 60lb. Next time he goes.....so am I!!
Beat me to it, tired of seeing news articles say every big orange fish is a "giant goldfish"As soon as I saw that picture I knew it was no goldfish. I guessed it was some variant of the leather carp.
