thinking of getting a 6" h. mala to share the 180g with my silver aro, the aro is around 6"-7".
want to see what the wolf experts think about this.

currently i have a 13" mala with a 16" silver aro in a 160 gal. no problems.. and i added the aro when it was 12", wolf was also 12" at the time...

The Malas individual personality is going to be the answer - I voted end badly - it is possible the Mala outgrows the arrow in record time and is intolerable, basically what is considered normal behavior for malas. You got a few things on your side tho - lots of space, both are young, and they both live in opposite levels within the tank.

You can always buy another arowana if needed, right? Safe thing to do would be wait until your aro is about 11-12" and then add a wolf that is half the aro's length.

i can but i rather not, i like my current little fellow. I guess I could grow it out more first. been trying to power feed it.

The questiion also is, where does ur wolf hang out. Mala are weird. Some hang out on top of stuff on the tippy top of the tank like mine does, some hang out on the floor. Mine tends to sleep on the top then on weird days on the floor but never in hiding. Which is why I won't add anything to the tank. I'm. He seems to make sure he takes up the whole tank, but then again if ur running a 180g there is alot room for them, but I have also noicted if there is. A fish in my wolfs tank he wakes up and swims with them, when he got a koi that was to big to be eaten he used to swim with it but the got pissed after. A couple days and ripped his. Back half off and went to his sleeping spot and watched the koi die. It all depends on the fish, it seems from looking around the site, all the wolfs that have tankmates are larger and where in the tank first and the wolf was a baby whem put in the tank, so it grew up with tank mates.
