Hello, so I'm Looking into buying a used 180 gallon acrylic tank. It is 6x2x2 and it has 3/8" thick acrylic. I've looked at the calculators and they say 1/2-3/4 is needed. However when I searched forums and Google I've found that a few manufactures use 3/8" thick acrylic I believe "clear for life" does. Anyways I've read that bowing is expected, which I'm fine with. But my question is, with that bowing and such thin acrylic, I'm wondering what the lifespan of said tank would be?
My thought is the bowing has to put pressure on the seams. So I'm worried about a blow out. Thanks

I had an 8’ x 2’ x 2’ that was out of 3/8” and the Boeing scared me a lot. The people before me had t for quite some time so could be ok

It'll be fine I wouldn't worry about it. My 240g acrylic is 30" tall (6x2x30") and is 1/2". There is a bow but that is pretty normal for acrylic unless it is extremely thick panels which most companies do not use because of the extreme cost. Seams on acrylic tanks are bonded so they are actually the strongest part of the tank so wouldn't worry about the seams on it.
