I think that first of all you would have to be looking for fairly large dats probably 10" and up, which are fairly expensive. Secondly, it would depend on how well your silver takes to tankmates. Does your silver have tankmates at the moment or is it all alone? I've seen tanks with large silvers, but with equally large dats.
I used to have my 10" jardini with 2 7" NTT's and I never saw the dats come out of their hiding place cuz the jar would terrorize the crap outta them. The jar even went into their hiding places to go get em. So long story short, I got rid of the jar and bought 18 more 1.5-2" NTT's.
anyways silvers are usually better tempered than jar's so i hope it works out for u.

i find that my aro picks on my dats more than any other fish in the tank. maybe its because the dats eats all the food. anyways dats are fast swimmers and with some hiding places it should be okay.
