I would like to do a sandy bottom with the grass type plants shown in this picture, what are they called and is C02 necessary?

i've always wanted to do something like that.. it's be like seeing a fish fly over a grassy field...

bump for a great idea :D

Yeah, this tank will have a couple big predators so I want a place for the smaller fish to hide in! Plus it looks beautiful.

Hey i was just going to post a thread about these grassy plants too today in the morning but was busy...beat me to a thread for a grassy plant...:D i was going to do something like that and your dimension is like mines but mines is just a foot taller 3' tall in height :) its going to be for the clown loaches im still trying to get...about 9-12 of them at 2"...so what are the predators your adding for this tank with the grass plant? Oh and for CO2 i think its best that you do...im going to add those Liquid Co2 for now daily and then when i get the chance and money for a Co2 System

Looks like it could be dwarf hairgrass or brazilian microsword.

If you want to get a dense lawn type of covering for the substrate, then CO2 is a necessity. But the hairgrass and microsword will grow ok without it.

from researching around....i now think that plant is really the Dwarf Hair plant that you claimed it to be.....it has a thinner runners.

a RTC will own this grass, not worth trying in my opinion, if you had fish like Pike that loved grass that would be a different story
