I was looking through some German websites and came across this one, http://www.deters-ing.de/ There's some wierd and wonderful calculators on there, every thing from how to work out a matt size for hmf filter to how much hydrochloric acid to add to reduce carbonated hardness for those aquariust that think ro units aren't explosive enough.
In part of his right up he mentions 7.5 cm per minute as the optimum contact time/ flow rate for beneficial bacteria to work. When I lived in Germany and worked in Holland this figure was always mentioned when talk of filtration was brought up.
Just wondering if any body on here has heard of this or if there any science behind it.
