Hi everyone, hope you are doing alright. I was so happy when I found this site, it is very informative but I do have one question : Is 7.6 pH to high for silver arowanas? I have read that they prefer near 7.0 but would they adjust to it or should I attempt to lower the pH with API(Aquarium Pharmaceuticals) pH adjuster? I am always so wary of using chemicals:eek: Obviously I am a novice at this, any help would be much appreciated. fyi I do not have the aro's yet I am just wondering if this will be a major concern. The fish are about 6 or 7 inches long.

No. Tank size and water quality matters more than PH for silver arowanas to tell you the truth. They are pretty well domesticated and do well in almost any PH as long as it's not an extreme.

well... 7.6 ph is a little high.... amazon water is sorta acidic.. like 6.5ph.. unless your local water supply isn't 7.0 exact.. i would say lower it a bit..

Its find as long as you do regular water changes.... but its a bit high..
Try adding a driftwood to soften the water a bit..

It's fine. Most likely the fish is farm bred anyways. If it was wild caught then maybe. But 7.6 isn't that high of a Ph.

Totally agree with this. I kept my last last (2 arowanas ago lol) in a 220 that was at almost 8pH and it grew perfectly fine and was healthy. Sold it after it got over 20" though. These guys really need a 3ft wide tank.
