Hello Guys,

I have a few bichirs (two 4"-5" Dels and one 7" Endli) in a smaller grow-out.

I have a 13"+ Endli (with a 22" Silver Aro, two 14-15" Florida Gars, one 10-11" Jaguar and one 6"-7" GT) in a 4foot tank.

Can I move the 7" Endli to the larger tank with the above mentioned fish?

(The Aro is very very docile. The FL Gars don't attack fish too big for them to eat.

Primary concern: Will the 13" Endli will eat the 7" Endli?

Secondary concern: The Cichlids seem to not recognize bichirs as competition for food, but I am a bit concerned about this combo as well.

Thanks,

Sid

PS: I realize the tank size is an issue.. I have already acquired a 220 Gal tank as an upgrade for these fish..It's just waiting to be picked up and delivered to my place.. Another 180-220 Gal tank is also on the horizon...

lt'll be fine i have 15 polys together atm the smallest are 7'' and the largest is 17''+ the cichlids should be a prob either polys are tough. once i had a 9'' jag grab a 7'' sen by the face, the sen wiggled away and wasn't phased by the encounter

Should be fine...I have 15 endi's as well...17 polys and they range from 10-19". Much smaller I would worry about, but 7" and 13" you should be fine.

When I put a 7" endli in with my bigger ones, the biggest being around 12" at the time, within half an hour the biggest endli 12" had him in his mouth so I had to rescue him,BUT that is not your biggest problem, you have a 22" Aro and plus the other large fish in a 4ft tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did,you need a bigger tank NOW!!!!!

Go fetch it already!

Never underestimate what a POLY can fit in his mouth. That includes another poly. The GT should be fine, just distract him while feeding times. My dat and gar is always first to the food, I distract them with little food on one side and drop in the rest for the polys in the other side.

+1 my endli has tryed to eat my lap a few times and my lap is 12in atm

Disgusting setup!
Very cruel IMO.
22" aro, 13" Endli, 2 15" gars and other large fish in a 4ft?

You say a bigger tank is on it's way, but how could you even let it get to the current condition?

Ok.. I am first going to get the delivery of that 220G tank over this week and have it setup before the weekend. (I already have 4 HUGE sponge filters (extra ones) running in the 4footer.. I intended to move these "live" filters to the 220G to jumpstart that tank..)

I'll then move some or all of these large fish to the 220G.. And then consider moving the smaller bichirs (5" Dels and 7" Endlis) to the 4 footer.

Thanks for the advice everybody,

Sid
