i bought 3 small peacock cichlids a week and a half ago and they died they next day and had a white slime on them...i removed them from the tank and did a big water change...the next day i noticed another cichlid with white stuff on his lips and back..i put him in a hospital tank with salt and 82* temp...he died 2 days later i also found my smallest blue dolphine dead.....i noticed my big kenyi with same stuff on him...moved him to hospital tank with salt and pimaflex meds and also dosed my main tank with salt and pimaflex and upped its temp, the kenyi was dead today and my tiger hap and albino taiwan reef have the stuff now.....i'm not sure what to do, im losing fish fast and nothing seems to be working...any tips or ideas........and please dont bash me on not quarantining fish prior to introducing them to my tank...i have learned my lesson.

All u can do is make sure the water is PRISTINE!!!

Have u tested for ammonia and nitrates/nitrites?

Be careful cause the hotter the temp the less oxygen presence, so get some extra bubbles going quick!! Id maybe try maracyn ( this happened to me once 1 fish died and i treated with maracyn and it saved the rest)

Hope this helps

turning down heaters and i will stop by and get some other meds tomorrow on my way home...hopefully no others die between now and then...i just did a 50% water change and added more salt.

thanks for the help..ill let ya know more tomorrow....as far as water test i will take in a sample tomorrow to have it checked...i think im gonna purchase my own to keep for times like this which i hope will never happen again

Def sounds like a virulent strain of Columnaris. If it is: Salt, Potassium Permanganate, or meth blue baths can be very beneficial if it hasn't gone systemic. Otherwise, a combo of nitrofurazone and kanamycin treatment for 10 days should help. I have had strains that went systemic and nothing I did worked.

Here is a link that I have found invaluable for treating this disease. http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Columnaris.html#columnaris

Good luck.
