7" grass pickeral

I've read that they can grow up to 14" long and I would assume it would take a few years. It's also going to depend on how much room you give them to grow. If you keep the 7" one in a 55 gallon aquarium it might not grow much more, but if you give it a deeper aquarium (a 75 or 90 gallon) and feed it a healthy diet of live fish, I'm sure it will continue to grow.

I don't know exactly how fast they grow, but I would asume the grow fairly fast given they have a good food source. At my parents place there is a large creek that was turned into a small pond about 10 years ago by a bunch of beavers. Well I can go down there in the summer time and catch grass pickerals all day long. I catch small ones from 4 to about 9 inches. I tried to keep a few several years ago, but every time they would wind up killing them selfs. They do like to jump and would bang their heads aginst the tops and sides of the 125 they were in. I would say get the smallest ones you can. That is if you are getting them from the wild. Then maybe you will not have the same issue that I had. Best of luck.
