Just started the native tank currently housing two bullhead and a bluegill.

Finally put the wood into the tank after a 4 month soak in the pond and a bleach rinse.

Anyone have any tips for a native tank?

Beautiful job. What kind of tips are you looking for? Not that I'd be of much help - all my NA natives have always been housed with tropicals.

I like that hunk of wood. Great shelter for your fish, but they are still view-able.

Possibly the max number of fish to where its not overcrowded.. catfish and bluegills

And ive been feeding them hotdogs. any different things i should do for the tank?

As long as your filtration will support it you can put in a few more fish at their current size, like possible some of the Larger shiner or Chub species (Fall fish and Creek Chubs or golden Shiners and Luxilus Shiners) for dithers and start feeding them Pellets (sinking and otherwise)....what kind of Bullheads do you have, and are you sure that you have Bullheads and not White or Channel cats, or a species of Madtoms?

***Albeit some report good results with hotdog (lean) feeding, it is generally accepted that this is a bad diet and a bad staple. They need foods of aquatic origin and dry foods like pellets.

It appears the caudal fin is not forked, it is squared-off - that rules out channels and whites. Appears too big for a madtom and the body proportions are of a bullhead. To decide what kind of bullhead, much better piccs are needed.

Lol, when I first looked at the picture I thought that was a Black branch on the driftwood....I didn't even see the Bullhead! Yes its definitely a Bullhead, the Black and Brown Bullheads can max out at over 20 inches long, so 2 Bullhead and 2 Bluegill will be Max and straining the limits of the tank when fully grown(Bluegill can get 12-16 inches long). Yellow Bullhead are smaller and max out at 18 inches (yours is not a yellow bullhead as they have white or yellow barbels on the bottom of their head). I was checking to see if you had a Stonecat or white catfish which many people mistakenly call Bullheads. PS thebiggerthebetter is right hotdogs are not a healthy food for bullhead and Bluegill, I would recommend sinking pellets for the Bullheads and floating Cichlid pellets for the Bluegill supplemented every once in awhile with earthworms, cut up market shrimp and freeze dried foods.
