I'm buying a drilled 72 bowfront (all glass). It is rated for 600gph. I'm looking for the most energy efficient pump to run it. So I would need it to be +/- 600gph@ 5' of head. Any idea guys?
I've seen people running open sumps and I love the simplicity of them. I think the rings and scrubbies will be fine. And also i'm looking to get the most gph I can get away with looking for something closer to 600-650 gph. The life aquatics quiet one 3000 is a little over 600gph @5' and draws right at 50 watts. This seems like a decent choice to me. Any objections?I have a rio 2500 that pushes about 500 gph at 5 feet and runs at about 30w. For your sump I would do a little wet dry section or at least add some baffles so that the water is going through the media if you know what I mean.

Rio pumps are really low power consumption pumps. And really good pumps also. Get the largest socks possible the 7inch round by 17deep would be great. 100 micron.
