I posted these pics on the AC forum and thought that the MFK community might enjoy it due to its beefy size and DIY nature. I am only going to post a few to wet your whistles and i will provide the link to the rest of the pics
.
I built the stand all in one night but the staining and lacquering took about 1 week and 2 weeks of curing time. All 4x4 construction with luan ply skin and the top is luan ply covered by "cloestmaid" brand shelving, bascially strips of wood glued together and sanded to a nice finsih. i had to sand it extra though to get it smoothe as a babies bottom. total cost was around 300 bux which was 3 times my original budget but i had tools and equipment to buy such as extra long drillbits, gcaulk gun, liquid nails, lag bolts, moulding etc. The tank is as is in the pics for the last like 2 months, i havent had to the money to buy substarte yet and plants and stock. I havent decided if i want to do a recycled glass substarte or go with 3m colorquartz and eco-complete and 3m colorquartz. Hopefully after winterbreak it will move to the next phase, woot.
