As some of you may know I am planning on getting a 55 gallon tank. Well after seeing pictures of 72 gallon bowfronts I really like the look of it. Now I was wondering if I could put a tex (not sure what kind the LFS has) and a con in there. Maybe some other smaller size cichlid. What do you think?

P.S.- I now have a job at a LFS so my parents will probably let me get a bigger tank (than a 55g), and I could get it for cheaper.

Thanks
Mike

I think you could put a Texas in a 72-bf for life plus a couple of smaller cichlids like convicts as long as there are no pairs. If you can go bigger than the 72 you should go for it. You'll be wanting to upgrade again in no time otherwise.

Well a 72 bowfront is better than a 55 gallon just for the looks alone. The bonus is it lets you keep a fish that gets too big for a 55 because of the extra depth.

ya i think you could do it but instead of cons id do rams, they are more colorful and less aggressive

Rams would be slaughtered. With your Texas, you need something that doesn't get too big but is tough enough to hold it's own. Convict always comes to mind first to fit that descpription but there are a few others. I have a couple of A. Centrarchus that are pretty cool and are extremely hardy. Maybe a smaller pike cichlid of some sort would be cool...or go with oddball fish like bichirs or something.
