Hi,

I'm new to the sump side of things but I've got the opportunity to grab a 720L tank and figure a sump is going to be the most cost effective way of filtering it. I've got a 170L tank that I can use as a sump - is this big enough?

I figure I'll run it as a completely submerged system to keep it quiet with a durso setup from an overflow in the big tank. From there I'll go through filter wool into bio balls / noodles (as many as possible and then straight into the pump out / heater section. Am I missing anything?

I appreciate all and any help on this one. I'm stoked to be able to get a real size tank. Thanks in advance!

yes that's big enough. Just make sure you account for how much the tank will drain down into the sump when the pump is off - especially because you want to do all submerged media, which will probably mean less excess space in the sump.
