planning on turning my 75 gal tank into a community tank any ideas on what to stock

Right now i have a parrot and what i think is a convict. the convict can be removed if it becomes a prob right now he just hides in the rocks.

So here is a clean slate plan my community.
Plants fish and aquascape .
CAN YOU DO IT!!!!!

oh yea! youre taking my advice.

If it was my tank I would get rid of both cichlids, and start over.
for plants look at some swords, anacharis, java fern, cobomba, hornwort....anything you can find that you like really.

for the fish i would do about 5 rainbows, several different kinds of tetras (neons are a must), a few dwarf gouramis, glass cats......and anyother community fish you might like. I've thrown some pix of my 55 around but if youre interested in seeing it i'll post it here too.

I get as much enjoyment out of my 55 as i do with my monsters:D WARNING: plants are addicting.

Rally Do you think the cichlids would be ok in the monster wall
Would love to see pics of your 55

You can have a semi-aggressive community. If it is a Blood Parrot (the hybrid) and not the true Parrot cichlid, it isn't really able to do much harm. The convict although aggressive stays pretty small. You can have semi-aggressive cichlids like severums. Birchirs would do well also. Maybe some Tinfoil Barbs, Bala Sharks, a Rainbow Shark or Red-Tailed Shark.

It could definately work. My aro was in a tank at the lfs (150 gal) and they had convicts and parrots with it. They could become a snack too. I'll take em off yer hands if ya want :naughty:

Here is the 55....we're pretty proud of it.

it is a blood parrot
I don't think he will ever be a problem in a community tank
Now the convict who knows may end up being a feeder!!!!!!!

im starting my 55 over and i going with 4 or 5 pairs of dwarf cichlids, and others. today i picked up 3 giant danio and 4 zebra danio to get the cycle going with the new water and stuff. next i will add maybe a botnia or other bootom dweller then add a 2 pairs of rams, pair of kribs and other dwarfs i can find. then ill see how it looks and fill in the blank spots in the tank maybe a school of golden babs or something, its a work in progress. i would love to do this with a larger tank though. i wish i had an extra 75 sitting around.

Thats going to look pretty good!

talked to my wife as this will be her tank (trade off for the monster fish wall) she says she would really like to have some more blood parrots
? is how many could i put in this tank?

I always liked the idea of a community tank that centered on clown loaches. They are, hands down, some of my favorite fish.
