I just bought a brand new 48Lx18Wx21H 75gal. Thinkin of adding a common Mala in there. I plan to attempt this cohab just to try if it works, and no I wont be overstocking my tank.

1. What fish have you had success cohabiting with a mala?

2. What temp range should they be in?

3. How hard is it to wean them off live foods?

4. How hardy are they? Pretty high up there i assume?

5. Are they illegal in socal? I'm new to wolves so i'm not quite sure, just wondering.

1. Mines killed everything that went in there.
2. I kept it at about 83f.
3. Easily weaned, in fact, just throw in a carnivore pellet or a piece of shrimp and it should eat it right off the bat.
4. Yep pretty hard to kill. just make sure the covers on well.
5. That im not sure...prob gotta check the restricted sp thread.
Good luck!!

My wolf is now 1 ft. He hasn't had live food in almost a year. This weekend I am planning on adding minnows to see if he tolerates much smaller fish. A single wolf is cool, but a 75 gal can only be a grow-out tank for a mala. It'd be nice if I could add some small fish just to liven up the tank a bit.

Minnows have been quarantened for 2 weeks now. This weekend I'll introduce them to my wolf. Not much hope, but then ... never know. I'll keep you guys posted.

I'm somewhat disappointed but also proud of my wolf... :D

Over night, he ate 6/8 minnows. I have to add that the minnows seem unaware of the /\/\onster ... swim in from of his mouth ... Anyhow, two are left. Maybe I'll try again some day with dark guppies. Those rosies are quite easy to spot, even when the light is out ...
