i just convinced my mom to let me get a 75 gallon tank at 48"x20"x18":headbang2so when i get it set up im putting my tire track eel (8 or 9"), my chocolate cichlid (6"), 3 jewel cichlids (2 1/2"), and a syno. (5"). i want to get a pair of salvini's as well what do you think? (btw a 75 is a big deal for me. it was hard enough to convince them to let me get the 35.( please dont get upset over what i have at the moment they all get along fine and are all healthy))

its now set up with most of the fish in it except for the salvinis

you may want to consider keeping your stocking on the light side, or atleast planning to get rid of a fish or two in the future. im sure you know chocolate cichlids can get quite beefy. my LFS has 2 that are maybe 8 and 12" each, and plenty thick. their honestly around the thickness and size comparable to a nice oscar or FH.

one full grown chocolate alone would make a 75 start to look small. the only saving factor is, if you keep up on your water changes, their an extremely lazy fish, so i doubt they will mind not having a ton of swimming room. :)

IMO, I wouldn't put a pair of Salvinis in there. They can get pretty mean when they spawn. A nice show piece female or a single male, but not a pair.

My pair of Sals was in my 75 with a JD, big female FM, and a big male Nic. Once they started breeding they took over the whole tank. Now they are in a 33 long with a convict pair.
