Hey Friends,

So I am in the process of cycling my 75 gallon, and have decided I want to try brackish. So here is where you come in, I want suggestions of the ugliest, weirdest and most bizarre fish I can stock with!
On a side note, is there any difference for cycling and starting up a brackish aquarium oppose to a freshwater?

THANKS:headbang2

The cycling, etc is the same. JUST MAKE SURE you pre-mix the salt into fresh water for 12 hours before adding it to the tank. If you add salt directly into the tank, it is costic. Poison to fish.

As for stocking, try a puffer. A Ceylon puffer would be awesome.

Ok but for the initial set up I can add salt straight in because there are no fish , correct?

Sure thing. Find out what type of fish first, that way you can measure the level of salt required. I'd suggest a refractometer, but if cost is an issue, a hydrometer works alright.

Yeah I have a hydrometer, and right now really liking the dragon gobies and bumble bee gobies,
I looked into the puffer, and apparently when it reaches maturity it require full salt water, only brackish when juvenile

Weirdest BW fish is the Anableps-Anableps.
