Can I keep 3 Convict cichlids with 3 Firemouths, 2 Blue Acara, and 12 Swordtails?
Honduran red points would be a good alternative to convicts. They don’t get quite as big and have a more peaceful temperament. Rainbow cichlids would also be a good choice
I’d do a pair of HRP or convicts with STs
OR
5 firemouth with the STs
OR
A pair of Acara with the STs
My vote would be two pair of Rainbow Cichlids since they keep small territories even when spawning with the STs( I know you didn’t mention those)

I think it's a bit heavy, convicts tend to be a bit meaner than the other species as well. I would go for 5 convicts with the swordtails ,or a group of fire mouths with the swords. Or, I would do a pair of blue acaras, then you could do a variety of South American tank mates.

If it were a larger tank, 2 species of cichlids and dither fish might work, say a 6 ft 125 gal or larger.
And the 75 could work temporarily as a grow out for 2 cichlid species, but long term success may be iffy, with only a 4 ft length.
I like the combos already suggested above,
Thorichthyss and swords. or
Amatittlania and swords, or
if going with Andinoacara, I'd go with the acaras and tetras as dithers (probably more geographically correct).

A cichlid/swordtail grow out tank above.
Acaras and terras below

All the acaras and tetras above and below, are found together in the same river, at a ratio of about 50 tetras to each cichlid.

An example of that natural ratio is obvious in the video below.
Cichlid (Chogorro), in the Rio Utive, Panama
The only acara seen, shows up momentarily at about the 3 min mark, blink and you'll miss it.
