Hi MFK's, I have a question for those of you who have repaired cracks before. I have a chance at a 75 gallon tank fairly cheap. It holds water and the only crack is on the support brace piece of glass at the top. It's actually busted inot a few pieces. How would I repair this the best way? I used to be an auto mechanic so I'm used to using RTV but just not on fish tanks. Thanks for the help.

It's best to show us a few good/clear shots.

Personally, I would not use any damaged tanks at all, not saying they cannot be serviceable. Since the crack is on the brace, it should be fine even without actual repairing it I think. Just go out and buy a tube of aquarium silicone and patch up the crack. Keep an eye on it too, making sure the damage stays the way it is and not spread. Good Luck!

I repaired an 80g long with a crack running up the back of the tankuploadfromtaptalk1424723999465.jpguploadfromtaptalk1424724024120.jpg
All I did was take a pane of glass from an old 20 or 30 gallon tank and glued it over the crack for support. In you situation, I would just take out the support pane and replace it. Use 100% clear silicone from any hardware store. Just make sure you clean up the glass where the silicone is going to be adhering. My repaired tank has been fix and back in use fir about a year now. So don't shy away from a cracked tank. They are easy to fix. Good lock to you
