hey guys, ive always wanted to keep big predatory fish buy i've never had the cpace. now Im thinkin of a 75 gallon datnoid tank. I don't know much about them. All Iknow is some species need brakish water. But they look like great fish and I'de love to keep them. I wanna know all there is to know. but the first theing I wanna know is can I fit one type of species in a 75 with a few tankmates or do they get too big?

PS: ima noob so help me with the abreviations.:)

All species can be kept in full fresh. they grow slowly, so a 75 will last quite a while. the biggest, but hardest to find (pulcher) get up to 2'.

One dat might be okay in a 75 once it was full grown. Emphasis on the "might." However, dats grow very slow, and if you were willing to upgrade in a year or two, you could keep a few. Silver dats and New Guineas are the "brackish" types, though all dats seem to do fine in lightly brackish conditions. I'm not dat expert, but you could keep a few in a 75 for long while, just not for life. They all grow from 12" to 15" or so.

I would say for life your looking at NGT, NTT, or AT.

NGT are most aggresive and get about 14" so you prob should get a larger tank, because it would be to hard to keep with others in that small of a tank. AT and NTT both get around 1', and depending on filtration and the amount of time you plan on putting into water changes and cleaning filters I would say you could keep either in a 75 for life.
