Okay so im looking for a nice looking hap that has nice color and are entertaining to watch. I might be getting a 75 or 90 gallon tank and I was wondering If I could do a species tank. I am also (on a side note) looking for fish that will cost quite a bit as adults. So far I have looked at venustus and Copadichromis Azureus. Any other fish that might fall into this category? What ratios should I have?

1 male n 3 females!

are you planning to breeding them ?? if not do a all male tank , forget about the venustus if you gonna do all male tank , 75 is a lil too small for most of the big hap , but as the same time alot of the hap stay on the smaller size like the azureus

Dang I was really hoping on getting venustus. Oh well. I really like Copadichromis Azureus the colors on them look great. I even saw that they were docile enough I could keep more than one male in a tank. Is that true. And yes it will be a breeding tank.

in a 75 gallon i would do six Azureus. 2 males, 4 females possibly, if your stuck on having multiple males, but for a breeding group in that size tank i would only put one male, just my opinion.

Okay that's fine one male would be okay. I've read that haps are predatory does that mean they are exclusivly carnivorous?

Haplochromis sp. 44 (Most LFS consider them Haplochromis Obliquidens, which is wrong)

I honestly love this fish... it isn't the most expensive fish as an adult... the adults can get in the 30 dollar range depending where you are from... But they are a really beautiful adult fish... I have a male and a female which I bought since my Adult male died unexpectedly from an attack from some Malawi Cichlids...

They are also a Victorian cichlid
