How many medium size 8-9 inch cichlids would your say could be happy in a 75 gallon together? This is with excellent filtration (two ac 110's, and 1 fluval 305). Agression levels in the JD range. I have some decisions to make and I would like input.

id say 2 would be good, maybe pushing it for 3

you might be able to get away with three, but it has to be with not so aggressive specimens, and knowing it most likely won't work, so a backup plan is needed

3 i would say 1 jd or gt, 1 salvini, and 1 convict or firemouth

Well I have to chose from among the ones I had in my 210. They already have been peaceful together. If I don't sell them I am debating between my freddy or Mota, GT, and a pike, or my midas and blackbelt (who seemed to have paired up). I am keeping my breeding pair of 9 inch JD's in a 55. I was kind of thinking 2-4 depending on size and temperment. One thing that my change their temperment is a change from a 210 to a 75. It's hard to choose because I have become attached to them.

in a 75G medium size fish id go with:

1 male P. motaguense
1 male A. Rivulatus
1 male R. octofasciatus
1 pair H. pantoscittus

Thanks Mbuna. I'll look into those.

Midas/Blackbelt if they like each other. They are gonna split the seams on that 75 if they dont. Cycle a few combinations thru of the fish you have to pick from. See what happens.
