Hi everyone!

I'm got my 75 gallon a couple years ago and it came with a diy stand and hood that had 4 (2 rows) 55W, 6700K lights with 2 work horse ballasts. Unfortunately, the guy used press board and with the tank humidity, it's falling apart. I want to redo the hood with the rain gutter type lighting but keep the bulbs and maybe add a 3rd line of lights. I'm thinking about doing a row of 2 6700k, then 2 10,000k, then another 2 6700k. The 10,000 would only be on between 10 and 4 (hottest part of the day). I want to turn it into a heavily planted tank with a deep sand bed. I have the plants in a grow out tank for now and I don't even know what I have really. I have a dwarf lily but that's all I know for sure. I was so happy when the bulb finally sprouted!

Is this a good idea? Would anyone be interested in helping me ID plants? I've never really had a planted tank before and I have quite a battle ahead of me since it will have goldfish... at least they're good fertilizer!

what kind of lights are they?
if they are t5 ho's, 2 bulbs alone put you at high light, and any more than that would set you into algae farming central
If anything, try and salvage what you have
on my 75, I have a 4 bulb setup, and will be adding pressurized CO2 at some point (going to see how it runs without it though)
my substrate is eco-complete and I will probably be dosing ferts once I figure out a good plan and where to buy them and all that
I am going to be running 1 65K and 1 10K for probably 8-10 hours a day, and then in the middle of that run another 65K and 10K for maybe an hour or so, for a noon burst effect
I can try and ID plants for you if you post pics, but thats the best I can offer. It is possible to keep certain plants with goldfish btw, but my current venture is the world of trying to keep plants with cichlids, and so far its not going bad at all, I just suck with stem plants lol

They are 55W Compact straight pin bulbs. I think they're 21". Thing is, I'm lowering the water level by a few inches (I wanna see the lily pads :) and stop the water from accumulating on the glass covers) so I'm not sure how much light will be reflected off the surface. Luckily, my high bioload removes enough O2 that I don't intend to add CO2 but then again, I don't know what plants I have. I used to have 0,0,0 but I removed some biomedia so the denytrifying bacteria would lessen a bit. Now it's up to 0,0, 10 :D

Here's a link where I posted all the pictures: http://www.aquariacentral.com/forum...86-75-gallon-lighting-Q&p=2786062#post2786062

Any suggestions of other plants to try to get would be helpful. I'm looking for diversity.
