So, I might be getting a 75 gallon aquarium soon, and to compliment the aquarium, I'm looking for an intermediate care monster fish. Any ideas?

How about a few bush fish, hujeta gars with some poly senegalus?

Should stay small and "monster" in the mini way without breaking the bank.

Bichir community

If you want personality, cichlid community

A single Flowerhorn

African cichlids

You could go brackish and get some figure 8 puffers

You could also go with a comm of smaller fish, like tetras, barbs, and shrimp.

If you want you could throw in an eel. Look for a half banded spiny eel. Lots of personality, low cost, and they top out at 8", so they won't outgrow the tank.

There are a lot more options, you just have to see what you like.

I am going for a pink tail chalceus, small bichir and african knife. i am just planting the ends and doing surface plants as african knives are fairly nervous and chalceus need a bit of calming space too.

I like the idea of an African knife. They are diurnal, active, and they only get 8", so if you get one it won't outgrow the tank.

The term "small" bichir doesn't exist. They all get 12+ inches.
