No...gar are actually great tankmates for just about anything. They're never aggressive. Only eat things they can swallow whole. This is actually my small gar. My big guy is about 18". Never had an issue with either.

gars are known to be aggressive.... so i would not say they will play nice, once older they may become even more aggressive, they are predatory fish...
im sorry about your silver aro but i was thinking about adding my 2 silvers in with 2 gars now i know 4sure i wont risk it good luck with the gf nice tank btw
