So I didn't think I had any issue with putting my 75gallon on our 2nd floor in our townhouse, but I am suddenly starting to wonder. Was playing with my kids in teh same room the tank is and if there was excessive jumping near the tank the water could be seen bouncing/moving around. For those who have tanks on 2nd floors, is this normal or should I be looking for a new place to keep the tank? The tank is placed next to an outside wall and a wall splitting our house from another house so they should both be load bearing walls, I thought. The tanks been in place for about 2 months.

Sounds normal depending on the structure of your house. My last place had quite a bit of flex to it as well and I had a 120 and a 75 up there with no problems. If you're worried about it then move it downstairs if you can.

I've felt fine with it til I saw the reverberations(??) I just wanted to double check is all.

ive got my 75 upstairs, its best if it can run across a bunch of floorboards oppose to 3 or 4. I've actually got mine half on an building overhang

I'm concerned about this as well. I don't want to have tanks only in the basement, you know? Someone in another thread mentioned having a pro check out the structure, and I'm thinking about doing that.

Do you have carpet? If so a piece ofplywood might help reduce the vibrations otherwise bolting it to the wall is a good solution.

Yea it's on carpet. It's not noticeable unless we're rough housing, which I shouldn't be doing with the kids in there anyhow, so it shouldn't be an issue any more ;)

Thanks for the info guys. I'm not worried about the structure, it's fit as a fiddle. This was the first time I'd actually noticed the water movement.
