I would like to setup a 75 gallon reef tank but this would be my fisrt salt water tank and i'm wondering if anyone can rccommend a good equipment setup so that the coral will flourish ???? All help would be appreciated

If you're into DIY, then ahsupply.com has retrofit kits for CF lighting and lightbulbsdirect.com has great prices on bulbs.

I would suggest going with a FOWLR (fish only with live rock) tank as your first saltwater tank. It would give you a chance to develop your skills at keeping a marine aquarium and take your time acquiring the additional equipment you'll need for a reef. If you only get reef safe fish, then it's a natural progression into a reef from a FOWLR tank.

:iagree:

FOWLR is the way to go if this is your first attempt at salt. It will give you the chance to learn the equipment without worring about whiping out an entire tank because of a mistake.

If you plan on going full reef, definitely invest in good lighting, that's key. You can get HOB style skimmers, like AC Remora, or go the sump route, which will increase the overall volume of the system and make chemical swings less likely to affect the tank as quick.

You won't regret saltwater...they are fantastic. Just make sure you do your homework first because it is much more expensive than freshwater, but well worth it if you ask me. :D

i'm not going 2 go fish only with live rock i'm going 2 set up a reef tank i'm just wondering if someone can help me pickout the equipment needed for it to be a great tank with as low maintenance as possible
