I decided to change up my scape in my tank and take it in a new direction i cleared out my stock and the only current residents are 2x 2" clown loaches and 1x 7" L240 pleco. Im not sure what plants and fish i want to stock it with yet but any suggestions on easy plants to maintain would be great ive never had much luck with them. my lights are current satellite leds which i think should be enough light but if not i could also use a plant life fluval led. for fish im thinking maybe geos or firemouths or growing out a single orino. i want something that will do okay with the stock i still have now. also im having a bit of an algea problem i do regular water changes and cleaning but i constantly get algea on my glass and plants. any suggestions tips or comments are appreciated. Thanks!IMG_6264.JPG

Anubias java fern and moss all attach to driftwood easily, I use superglue. Helps not having plants in the substrate if you want sand sifting geos. To get rid of algae there are lots of things that can go with your current stock but maybe not future stock like amano shrimp, ottos, nerite snails, bn pleco etc.

Heres a shot of java fern and anubias on a piece of manzanita growing easy enough with next to no maintenance

I really like the way you have used that beautiful driftwood.. :)

Question: why not tie the ferns and anubias instead of gluing?

Cheers,

Karthik

Hi,

The driftwood can be used in the center. Or if in the corner, used to make it look like a branch.

i really like your tank! i dont know if i would glue plants to the driftwood but im deffinetly looking into tieing plants down to the wood. last plants i had turned brown with algae and then began to fall apart

You can tie them but it can be tricky and Im lazy. Superglue is completely safe and it doesnt dry it cures with water so it works great on wet wood and plants. Just be sure the active ingredient is cyanoacrylate. I prefer the gel because its less messy and the white when it dries will show underwater.

nerites will help with the algae. i would go with some very easy plants like moss anubias or java ferns.
