Got a 75 off craigslist today. Came with a Magnum 350, new in the box powerhead and undergravel filter system,heater,2 light hood,gravel vac,2 air pumps,lots of extra hose and tubing,big piece of Texas Holey rock.$75.00!:headbang2
Thinking about a native tank for it,and don't know anything about undergravel filters. Should I use it? Are they a pain to use and clean? The powerhead is reversable so I could go RUGF ? Or should I just use the 350 with bio medium in it?:confused:
 
As long as you are willing to do a gravel vac every other week the ug filter will work fine. It also works well to add a layer of bonded filter media between the gravel and filter plate.

I havn't used a UGF in a LOT of years and IMO you should scrap it but they did work.

I get it up and running I will post some pics. You guys with the magnum 350s, do you load the cannister up with bio stuff? What do you use besides the filter sleeve?

I just put carbon on the container then the sleeve it usually does a better job than my fluval 404 and more gph than a 404.
