I've got a 75 gallon running a pair of AC 110's and a CF500 canister. I'm planning on getting 1 severum and 1 electric blue acara. I'm trying to come up with ideas for other stock.

I think a school of 10 buenos aires tetras and 10 corys will probably go in as well. I would like to have 2 or maybe 3 other smaller cichlids to go in the tank as well. I'm open to just about anything other than angelfish.

Buenos Aires are pretty nippy, I would consider maybe trying a different species of tetra.
As for cichlids, you could try a pair of Rams or larger apisto species with them. Success depends on the attitude of your severum and acara. I'd say a pair of bolivian rams has a good shot of working out though.

Absolutely agree with Gourami Swami Gourami Swami and personally would do the Bolivian Rams and Columbian Tetras.

Columbians do look nice. I'm not very familiar with Bolivian Ram behavior, are they shy or are they fairly active?

I've never kept any of the following but would this work?

1 Severum
1 EB Acara
1 C. Sajica
1 Honduran Red Point

I wouldn't go with CA cichlids, they are all more aggressive than your saverum and acara, and there is a good chance they will cause problems. Sajica can be mean little buggers, HRP have never been too bad for me but I have had siquia and convicts which were terrible.

I would look at south American dwarf cichlids exclusively, if you want to keep the Severum and eba

Thanks for the input. So something more along the lines of apistos, rams, or maybe rainbow cichlids.

Apistos tend to disappear in a 75 until they spawn and then they cause havoc.

Some fish I would/have kept with Severum in a 75.

Cleithracara maronii(Keyhole)
Mikrogeophagus altispinosus(Bolivian ram)
Geophagus sp. "Red Head Tapajos"
Guinacara sp
Biotodoma cupido

Combining some cichlids with a group of characins big enough not to be eaten and a group of corydoras would make for a great display.

Thank you. I was trying to stay away from small cichlids like apistos. I admit i have only tried rams once, and while i found them attractive, they were rather boring.

I was planning on doing 1 or 2 schools of tetras and would also like some cories. Would cories and red head tapajos get along ok since they both occupy the same area?
