I picked up a Drilled 75 gallon With a 75 gallon Sump for 100$ a few weeks back and i have an idea on what i am stocking it with, just want to see what everyone thinks.

The tank is painted black on sides back and bottom.

Thinking of a white sand substrate with a nice driftwood center piece and maybe some brown slate pieces on the left and right.

Right now my stock will be:
1 Giant Gourami (It is at around 5 inches, its it a growout for my lfs, the manager sells it to me because he know i take good and proper care of my fish and he makes a bigger profit when then fish is bigger, so he sells them to me as juvies and he gives me a higher trade in value than normal for it)

3 Tinfoil Barbs
2 Festivum

these are the definite fish, currently have all these fish living peacefully in my 29.

Anything else i can add?

I was thinking of adding my two poly senegal from my 30 to it, because my convicts reek havic on the tank when they breed.

Would they work?

Also the lighting is Coralife Glo T5. Not sure of the type of bulbs, but i got that for 20 bucks!

Hell of a deal...is the sump in such a condition that you could use it as a real tank? If so I'd split them up and get both 75's going, put your poly's in one 75 and the rest of the stock you just mentioned in the first 75 like you're planning.

From there I'd start thinking about what can go with the poly's (dunno what size yours are, I have tiger barbs convicts & a jack dempsey with mine, they're all 6" or less though). I don't know what you can do with giant gouramis and the other fish you mentioned, don't know anything about them.

But basically I'm saying...a 75gal sump on a 75gal tank seems absurd to me. You could go get yourself a 20-30gal tank for cheap from somewhere and use that for the sump on the 75. Then either duplicate the setup for the other 75 or find a canister like an xp3 or something of the sort.

Unfortunately its not an actual tank :(
I bought these at a Petland near me that redid it fish section was selling off what they werent using. So i am assumming this sump filtered 3 75 gallon tanks. Not quite sure .

Ya its crazy filtration and currently the 75 is only tank of mine mine is drilled.

AS for sizes of fish. The polys are 5 - 6 in.

Barbs are 3 and Festivum are 3

Ah, oh well.

I don't know anything about festivums or giant gouramis, and I've only heard bits and pieces abou tinfoil barbs.

But....on a gut feeling, I'd say your two sens would be fine in the 75. If it were me I'd rather test the waters there than trust them to a pair of breeding convicts.

u should be fine intill the Giant Gourami outgrow that tank...

The tinfoils will take up a big space in that tank, and make a good amount on bio-load. The polys should be fine aggressive level wise. but trying to feed around tinfoils can be fun.. they are garbage disposals.

yeah ur sens should be fine, like the person said above just enjoy trying to get them their food lol - id feed the tinfoils at one side of the tank and drop in the sinking sen food on the other side if it were me

Tinfoils do eat everything. Ya i was thinking about the polys eating. But Feeding the tinfoils on one side and dropping some sinking pellets on the other is a good idea.

As for bioload....With a sump as big as the tank it shouldn't be a problem.

Once the GG outgrows the tank, What do you all think about some dats?
