Hi guys i will soon be building a 300 gallon plywood tank and am going to covert my 75 into a sump/refugium. Ive never had or built a sump before so I might have some stupid questions lol. Ive been doing some research and came up with this rough design. Im not sure if the fx5 can be used this way without problems, but its just sitting around so I want to put it to use. Could this design work? Any thoughts or ideas would be great. i dont have a computer at the moment and cant make a fancy diagram lol (please excuse my horrible hand writing and drawings im no artist lol)

I'm not sure if the FX5 would work the way you have it in the drawing. I would think it would siphon back in to the sump when not running.

I would move the mechanical (foam/sponges) before the ceramic/bio. I would also have the ceramic below the bio. That way if you ever lost power it would remain submerged and the good BB wouldn't die off. What kind of media will you be using in the "bio" space?

Well after doing some more research I figured it would be best to cut the fx5 out of the equation and im thinking dc jebao 12000 for a pump. For the bio I was thinking pot scrubbies or bio balls which ever seems most economical and effective. For the ceramic that was my bad I mixed up biomax with prefilter rings lol, but i like that idea of putting biomax below the bio and I was thinking about lowering the right baffle on the refugium.
