Well, the wife got the better of me and asked me to downsize from my 265 african tank to a 75 gallon. I am not sure what direction to go in, either a community tank or a large pair. I do like community tanks but I also like having 1 monster fish in a tank as well. Any suggestions for both scenarios would be great.

its a tose up for me, if i was you, i would tell her that since you downsized that you should be allowed two 75g, then one is a community and the other one is for a red devil. problems solved. lol
I really am not that big of a help. but i can tell you this if you like interacting with your fish, i would do one red devil. if you like to watch fish interact with each other then i would do a peaceful south american community with a chocolate cichlid or a severum with a few geo red head tapajos.
