Hey I was wondering If you guys think I would be safe putting a 75 gallon upstairs along an outside wall even though it will be parallel to the floor joists and not perpendicular? If I set it perpendicular to the joists it is just sticking out into the living room and the other walls both have large windows that I cannot block. If I did more say 125+ I would make sure to put it perpendicular but 75 gallon seems like a lot less than other tanks.

Edit: Mods - I'm not sure exactly where to put this thread so if it's in the wrong place feel free to move it as you see fit.

I worried about this too when i was upgrading to a 75 in my upstairs apartment. If it makes you feel any better i have been fine so far for the last 7 months with my 75 on the outside wall and i wouldn't consider this apartment built the best. Like people have told me, usually you dont need to worry when the tank is under 100 gal.

You're good to go man. Enjoy:)

I have a 120g on a second floor apt with uneven wood floors. I've been alright for 6months. Then I had a thick glass 80g tank with a 20g sump on the outside wall for over a year before the 120g.

75g will be fine! All you may have to do is relevel it once the floor settles.
