currently have a 75 gallon with 1 Male Johannii 3" and 1 common pleco 7"

A friend is looking to get rid of a Frontosa 5" who is getting to big for his 30g long and 1 F johannii 4" which i asked for since id be taking a fish off his hands :).

once M and F Johannii make babies it will give me more fish and free feeders for the frontosa since ive read they are carnovirise.

Wondering if they could all get along ok together, i have never owned a Frontosa and am hoping he will do ok

I only have 2 African cichlids the Johannii and another Blue one 3inches no stripes who is real mean i had to separate the 2 even in the 75 gallon...yes it has lots of hiding spaces...50lbs of lava rock. I dont know what kind he is but hes got his own 29g now...id like to try and reintroduce him in the 75 gallon once all fish are larger.

Will it work? or and i asking for some beat up unhappy fish

thought it was something with a Spoifila or something im not sure...guy at LFS said they need 60 gallons or larger and are very aggressive ... but couldnt tell me what it was...yea IDK

here is a pics of the Fish that idk what kind it is...he is between blue and light blue gets bluer when its feeding time.

yes bluer is not a word :headbang2 YET

That looks like a stressed out johanni or maingano hard to tell cause it's color is very faded, as far as frontosa and johanni together, not a good mix at all as frontosas are peaceful and johannis are very agressive also both those types do best in large groups... johanni females are orange/yellow

its not a johannii i have one of those and they are clearly different hes lookds a little faded cause i turned his light on when it was suppose to be dark and instantly i had a camera in his face he freaked out for a little bit

not a maingano he never has had stripes of any kind just a solid blue

not not even in a 75 gallon ( 48"x18"x21" ) with 3-5 fish the front wouldnt work with the johannii hmm well maybe ill pass it up

Looks like a socolofi (minus the obvious melanochromis stripes), could be a hybrid.

great call , after looking at 30-40 pics of this fish online and mine...i cant find a closer match

now, pair of socolofi and pair of johannii only in a 75 gallon tank?

I would get much more than a pair of each as the aggression will not be well diluted between 4 fish. Then again it is a 75 gallon so with a lot of rocks it will work. I would still get at least 5 of each ( more females than males for breeding ). G.L.

yea there is just over 50lbs of lava rock...im hoping they will have babies instead of buying fish to get some free ones.

i think im going to try the 2 pairs i will let every1 know how it works out for me.
