Well, after thinking long and hard about my current 75 setup, Im going to rehome the fish and get a solo wet pet. So i was wondering from experience, which of these 3 fish would be the moste entertaining but also look good. I was thinking Oscar(only because i dont see much else and i cant afford to order from a vendor), A red texas(friend of my uncle has some growing out) or a midas/red devil. Ifyou have suggestions feel free to let me know what you think. I dont mind a glass banger but i want something my little sister and family can also enjoy a little more as they also think my current setup isnt to fun to watch. Thanks guys/gals

I would go with either a Oscar or Midas...both have great personailites in my experience. Oscars do make great wet pets and you can pick one that has a little different design to it and can even take the family to go pick it out and they can watch it grow and take a sense of ownership because they picked it out. But, either of these two would be my personal choice.

Just about an SA would fit that idea. I've gotten pretty fond of Pike cichlids, they are abit oddball but still fall into that cichlid mentality of curiosity. You can usually find Venezualans for 20$ or less and often time find the dwarf species usually Sveni's or belly crawlers as well. otheriwse a group of african cichlids are never boring.

@Jantilla, yeah thats what i heard about oscars which is why im considering one even though their common. And yeah i heard that about the red devils but i dont mind, that would awesome! lol

@Paulbearer, Yeah my parents actually looked up some fish lol and the midas or red devil caught their attention the most, but they wouldnt mind an oscar.

@Monsterminis, I do like the oddballs, my uncle has a really nice 8 inch C. Lepidota pike and it is mean, the only thing i doesnt attack is a 4 inch red texas who bit a cuban the same size in half

But i do appreciate the advice, its either gonna be the oscar or midas if i can find one lol

I would go with the oscar, but if you want something a little different and unique, definatly get an albino oscar, very cool and unique

Saltwater and a Miniatus or Panther grouper.

Don't be scared of the salt!
:D

@ fishe and Zari, I think its gonna be an oscar. I called all the lfs near me and no midas or anything lol

@ BigCountry, Lol i wish i could, but i dont have the money to set up a saltwater tank lol trust me, i would be all over a grouper or lion fish if i could

Id go with the oscar. With the oscar if u ever want to add another fish its not big deal. With the red devil, 9 times out of 10 it'd going to be too much of a dick for anything else to be added to it. Including another midas or red devil. I have a 10" red devil and I've tried so many different aggressive fish with him and nobody seems to work. And as a single fish, the oscars are more fun because they're a lot nicer than the red devils. Red devils will often go after your hand if u put it in the tank. My oscars are hand fed and it's pretty cool.
