+1 on that.
but ultimatley, it depends on what you want. it would be cool to have like an african tank. with like a frontosa as a centerpiece. though, like i said, its really up to you.

a community of cichlids in a 75 will requite some planning. there are a decent ammount of fish you could choose from, however, you need to ensure the fighting will be minimal since a 85 dosent give a ton of room for nasty fish.

if your looking for a colorful tank, you could mix gold and/or blue rams with geo's, angelfish, or even blood parrots (if your into hybrids), convicts as long as you dont get a breeding pair......these are just a few of the most basic, readily available american cichlids. your options blow up when it comes to africans.

i always wanted to make a dwarf cichlid tank. such as a pair of the dwarf species of pike cichlids, some rams, and some firemouths. would be a nice colorful tank. maybe some earth eaters or some veijas... i think thats what their called

there are several really NICE cichlids in the 3-6 inch range. you could an all apistogramma tank (options here are endless) or like mix up some apistos, rams, dwarf, acaras, keyhole, blue flash, and so many more. geo daemon is pretty and gets 6" i believe

Go with the parrots, veijas, convicts and clown loaches! All in one tank, with some amazons! I have my 95 set up that way, lots of activity and life going on!!

Don't go with Viejas - A 75 is big enough to keep 1 Vieja by itself.
