Right now I have a 6” Oscar and a 2” Jack Dempsey and Green Terror in a standard 55 gallon tank. When I upgrade my tank, it is looking like I will have to stick to a 4’ long, due to the amount of available space in the house. So that leaves me choosing between a 75 and 90. Obviously bigger is better, I was just wondering if the 5” extra height on the 90 would be that much more beneficial for those types of fish (opposed to extra space in length rather than height).

The extra heigth adds water volume which adds to the stability of the water parameters but it doesn’t offer the fish any more swimming room length wise or back to back so make of it what you wish.
Just out of curiosity what are 90 gallons going for today?

I’m keeping an eye out for used ones with a stand and I have been seeing in the $200-$500 range in my area.

You've over looked a very good option of a 4' tank, the standard 120 4×2×2. This would give you a good amount of space for those fish and extra volume.
The 90 will amount to nothing in reality, besides a waste of money.
You are absolutely right, I definitely overlooked that one. That may just work. Yah that was kind of what I was thinking between the 75 and 90, just wanted to confirm it from some knowledgable people. I’ll have to keep an eye out for a 120. Thanks!
