ok so I recently set up my 75 and have it all filled with water, I don't have it on a stand because I think it looks just find on the floor imo. But now my mom is getting mad saying that once I move the tank its going to leave mold on the carpet. Is this true? Or will it be fine just on the floor?

the floor is a no go in my opinion no matter how careful you are condensation and moisture will get under the tank and cause a problem in the carpetry

im not suggesting you build a stand but build a obs for it to set up off the ground using like 4x4's and paint em nice or something at least get it off the ground to let air under it and what not

i had a tank on a dresser one time and it ruined the top so i had to completely refinish it :(

all cause of moisture under tank

I would worry that the floor is not level. This could lead to a leak or failure over time.

Setup a block stand and you will be ok. I had a redneck setup on the floor for a few years though, but what everyone said above is accurate. I wouldn't do it. You can spend $10 and buy 2x4s and make a stand for it or something.

I think you and the fish (and your mother for that matter) would enjoy it being on a stand more. You could make a quickie one with the directions in the DIY area and cover around the sides with a sheet and they dont look bad. Also the 75 gallon iron stands are really inexpensive as well....

Best of luck

In my experience, fish can get freaked out when they see legs moving around their tank. Also it is more difficult to siphon water out of a tank that is on the ground. I definately agree with trying to get it off the floor.

:mr-t: mr t said make a stand now foo

do what your mom says even if u think shes wrong because ulimatly shes the one that will or wont let u get that future tank. when i live my parents the largest tank i was allowed to have was a 55 gallon and only 1 at that
