Ok I am converting my 75g that used to be saltwater back into a freshwater tank. My buddy has a big oscar that he is getting rid of, 7-8 inches or so. I was wondering what else could I keep with this big poppa. I was thinking of maybe getting another oscar possibly an albino or something. I love jacks a lot but cant find any of good size around here. Thought about buying 6 or so and hopefully have a pair break off so I could have a mated pair. I know this would mean getting rid of the oscar but it would be a while until the jacks grew to breeding size. BTw the jacks would be in a 29 gal until they got large enough so they wouldnt get eaten.
Thanks

An Oscar pair sounds good.

I would not put more than 2 fish in there, unless you want to upgrade later. Get another oscar, or a nice Jack Dempsey to go with the oscar. Get a blue like mine, he is a puppy and hangs with my oscars...

I would not get two Jack's...what would you do if they did start breeding in with the oscar? The oscar and another semi-aggresive cichlid. Perhaps another oscar if they will tolerate eatchother. Othe ideas that come to mind are rainbow cichlids, convicts, firemouth, severum or bloodparrot. Personally, I would go with a severum...I have never heard of anyone having a problem with a severum and oscar combo.
