First off let me introduce myself. I have been keeping fw africans for many many years. I just saw a invert 75 gallon tank on craigslist for $200 and said what the hey. Bought it 3 months ago, bringing 55 gallons of the water with me. It came with;
  • cleaner shrimp
  • black urchin
  • white urchin
  • 12 or so blue leg crabs
  • 3-4 turbo snails
  • chocolate chip starfish
  • sea slug
  • 100 lbs of live rock
  • grean sea serpent
  • 2 bulb setup, 10,000 and a actenic, guessing 50-75 watts

I have added:
  • maroon clown
  • sailfin tang
  • purple wrasse
  • black and white angel
  • yellow tang (yes I now know that 2 tangs in 75 not a great idea)
  • blenny
I want to add some corals, feather dusters, anemone.... Just to get more color and action in the tank. I will add a couple more power heads to increase flow.

I am going to get a cool touch light this afternoon 440 watts 2 10,000 and 2 actenic bulbs. ($175 is this fair?)

I am a begginner, but I am also very meticulous with my animals. I will learn, but I want to make my learning curve less expensive. I know at least the cc star will have to go, anything else? What suggestions do you guys have for me for the corals, feather dusters, anemone...

Thanks in advance.

If you want to keep an anemone you are going to need metal halide or HO t-5 lights. I'm not sure what you mean by a touch light.

if you want coral's you need to get lights first off... i know you are getting some but not sure what kind... 440 watt MH?? not sure if they make those.... but if you get MH lights you will be able to do 100% corals and clams but your gonna need a chiller.... if you want 80% of corals you need HO something... and if you want an anemone make sure you dont get the carpet anemone because your FOWLR tank will be anemone only with live rock well good luck

MH come in 150, 250, and 400 watts if i'm not mistaken... any ways if you do decide to get MH get a chiller or everything is going to toast in there... and make sure you get a heater as well so when you turn the light off at night they all dont freeze to death... but if you stay away from MH your coral selection will be limited depending on what type you get... i'm pretty sure you cannot do hard corals but soft coral you should be fine... and an easy beginner coral is pulsing xenia... if you have iodine and stuff that xenia will be growing like forest fire and you can trade it in to your LFS for more advance pieces of coral... i think they also like the higher end of the hydrometer like 1.030 or something i cant find my meter right now... and clean water using RO water only and get a skimmer and you should be able to do well with corals... well hopefully that will help make your learning curve less expensive:ROFL:

I agree with everyone else about not doing most anemones under that light. I'd also not trust a chocolate chip star or a green brittle in a reef tank. The angel either. Which purple wrasse do you have? The sailfin really needs a new home too.

T5 lights are a must IMHO - the change for the anemone & corals in my tank since I put these on is great - looks a lot more alive.

Good luck!
