Hello All,

I just recently hopped back into the hobby after a long break. I had a 150g explode on me a few years back and had to give all my pygos to my LFS. It stunk, because they were just getting to the point where they were growing out. Anyways, I took a break for a few years and have decided to enter the hobby again with a Juvenile rhom.

I just purchased a 75g as I know the rhom will be a slow grower. The end goal is to place him into a 180g tank after 2 years (6-7"). Since I have the tank and I've done some reading (some of it seems to be dated, which is why I'm making this thread), I wanted to share my filter plans with some folks on here and get the feedback.

Here is my planned setup so far..
Tank: 75g
Substrate: White Sand
Filter 1: AC110
Filter 2: Fluval 406
Fish: Juvenile Rhom

I'm left asking myself if I really need that AC110 with a Fluval 406. I read you can never have enough filtration. Although, I'm still questioning whether or not I'm throwing money away here.

Also, with the Fluval 406 act as a power head as well?

Thanks for the help in advanced!

You probably could do without the AC110 with consistent wc's and aquarium maintenance.

This isn’t exactly what you asked for but if you want to help the parameters a bit then I would go and get some pothos, clean the dirt off of the roots, then stick the roots in the water. It’ll surprise you with how much they help once they are settled in.

Thanks for the replies. Pothos? Never heard of them. Where do you find them?

I appreciate any and all the information here.

I may skip out on that ac110. I don’t really like the look of them anyway.

Well I got mine from walmart, if you don't have one then I would look online.
