What's up guys? been forever since ive had a tank and that's been due to school and zoology classes. finally got some room to add a nice 75gallon. tank mates include 3 juvie geo. surinamensis, 2 juvie t. meeki, 1 hemichromis gutattus, pleco, and 2 redtail sharks. before everyone freaks out, there is also a small tiger shovelnose cat that we're growing out to eventually be moved into a 210 gallon. i also put a number of ghost shrimp to help clean the tank and be a snack for the fish. Plants are amazon swords, anubias, java fern, rotala indica, vals, hygrophila, and aponogetons. lighting is a coralife 3' 90w 6500k CF, in addition to a beamswork 11" LED light to help supplment the lighting to the hygrophila and aponogetons - my 4ft coralife went out completely. the beamswork also has actinic lights, so its pretty neat to see the shovelnose swimming at night when it's on. It's been almost 7 years since my last planted tank, and that was a 55 with jurupari, and it did great, so im hoping for a similar result here. i tried to replicate the forest river environment as best i could without adding leaves... which would still be neat, except for the heavy tannins. horrible picture of the aquarium too as it's been awhile and i just wanted to get a quick snapshot. ill update with individual shots when i get my flash and macro lens this weekend.
