I need a stand for a 75g tank. I have no idea where to start or what kind of wood i need. What wood works best and I need also a blueprint. Anyone please point me to the right direction. thanks.

Hello!

Well, I doubt anyone is going to create a blueprint for you :) Besides, coming up with your own design is the fun part! It's a good feeling when you imagine something, create it...and it actually works! lol

Part of the problem is, there are a 1,000 ways to answer your questions. You can make your stand out of oak, walnut, maple...on and on. Some on here have created simple angle iron stands, all the way up to Egon's masterpiece tribute to MFK.

Mostly, keepers choose to work with pine. It's easy to get and very economical. Look through the DIY section of the forum and study the other stands members have created. You will get most of your answers there. Make sure you know the outside measurements of your tank since that will determine the size of your stand.

Also, keep in mind that if you do choose to use 2 X 4 construction, the boards don't actually measure 2" X 4". They are more like 1-3/4" X 3-3/4". I would hate to see you precut all your lumber and find out you're a 1/4" short everywhere!

Post back if you have questions. But, again, I suggest you dream this monster up on your own.

Good luck!
