I'm definitely getting 6 orange head tapajos. Juveniles 1.5"+

Other tank mate options, what could go with them?

Honduran red point - how many?
Astatheros robersoni - a pair?
geophagus altifron - a pair?

What's you guys opinions?

I would concentrate on something for mid and upper level activity.

4 Angelfish would balance out the tank nicely if you want cichlids. As for non-cichlids 2 dozen tetras would look good.

I would suggest some angels, or maybe festivums, or small severums. Possibly a nice group of hardy tetras. They you could also throw in some smaller catfish like a nice group of corydoras.

If you want to do another earth eater maybe try satanoperca daemon, they will compliment the red heads nicely and they aren't aggressive towards other earth eaters like Altifrons would be. I kept Tapajos red head with satanoperca in the past, it was a very nice mix. I also tried altifrons and tapajos red heads and it didn't work out well. The altifrons dominated the tank and the red heads were always stressed and never had great colour. I have seen it done before, but it's generally in a very large tank, or a very packed tank were aggression is spread out.

Good luck,

I was looking at satanoperca but don't They need specific water conditions? My ph tends to stay 7.0 but it is a bit on the hard side

IMO, six orangeheads will fill up your 75 as far as cichlids go. I wouldn't mix any Satanoperca with them in that size tank. I also wouldn't advise the festivums, as my male Mesonauta all ended up around 7" or so and were very active. I had them in 150 gallon and 210 gallon tanks.

I'd just try and get some non-cichlid dithers for them if you want more color or activity in the tank.

I could always upgrade the tank they live in later. Geos are slow growers aren't they? Anyone thought about the HRPs or robertsoni?
